Ways to fund growth without selling ownership

Before you sell equity: working capital, faster collections, supplier terms, leasing, seller financing and the right kind of loan.

Start with cash already in the business

Faster collections, tighter inventory and better supplier terms can free cash without borrowing anything. A business with $180,000 in receivables and 50 days to collect could free roughly $70,000 by getting to 30 days.

Non-dilutive options

  • Term loans for assets with a clear payback
  • Lines of credit for seasonal or timing gaps
  • Equipment financing or leasing, matched to useful life
  • Seller financing on an acquisition
  • Phasing the project so early stages fund later ones

The tradeoffs

Every non-dilutive option has a cost: interest, fees, covenants, collateral or personal guarantees. The goal isn't to avoid equity at any price — it's to know what each dollar costs and what happens in a bad year.
